ICT's: More than important, it is a right.

The vital importance of ICTs in the lives of our students, is given, not only for its educational value but because if we want to educate future adults who can survive in a society predominantly technology, we give them the necessary tools.

This importance is illustrated, when UNESCO defends the rights of students to grow in these skills. This information can be found in the following document:

In this document we can extract the following conclusion:

To live, learn and work successfully in an increasingly complex society, rich in information and knowledge-based, students and teachers need to use digital technology effectively. In an educational context solid, Information Technologies and Communication Technologies (ICT) can help students acquire the skills necessary to become:

• competent to use information technology;
• search engines, analyze and evaluate information;
• problem-solvers and decision makers;
• Creative and effective users of productivity tools;
• Communicators, collaborators, publishers and producers;
• informed, responsible and able to contribute to society.

Decalogue for the use of ICT

As primary school teachers we should know, at all the time, what to do and what not to do with the ICT.

1 .- The important thing should always be educational, not technological.

2 .- The TIC's are not magic, do not produce their own learning.

3 .- The method used is that which promotes learning.

4 .- The ICT should be used for students to learn "doing things" with technology.

5 .- Should be used to learn content and also to develop digital skills.

6 .- Can be used to seek information and communicate with others.

7 .- Serve both individual and collective work.

8 .- It must be very clear goal to work and competition to develop.

9 .- We must avoid improvisation at all.

10 .- The use of ICT should not be considered foreign to the teaching-learning process.

Digital blackboard

The first article of my blog could only try on the most progress in my point of view regarding new technologies in the classroom: The digital blackboard.

(ICT) are impacting the world of education in different ways. ICTs are increasing the growing importance of informal education of the people, demanding new training base for young people and lifelong learning for citizens, becoming necessary to use new tools in the educational process, offering the possibility of virtual requiring a new learning and teaching and technological training of teachers.

This new tech environment, associated with conditions such as diversity in the classroom, requires effort on the part of teachers that will enable digital literacy for all students, an innovation of teaching practices and increased productivity, once the teacher discover the benefits of ICT use is for him.

Among the new resources that the new technologies available to teachers, is the interactive whiteboard. This technology is presented as a very suitable solution to be a familiar-looking piece of technology and simple to use, yet powerful. The interactive whiteboard allows a progressive innovation in teaching practices, improved motivation and attention of students, and the availability of new tools to attenf the diversity of students, especially those students with severe disabilities or difficulties or moderate learning.

However, only the installation of interactive whiteboards in classrooms is not enough. To ensure the recognized benefits of the incorporation and use of interactive whiteboards, this introduction must be accompanied
performances of the resource enhancement, such as the ability of teachers to access quality educational materials and launch initiatives aimed at training and motivation of teachers to use technology to support
the teaching of different subjects.

The introduction of interactive whiteboards throws various questions such as what benefits are obtained with the use of this resource in the classroom, what type of board has to select, what aspects should be considered to ensure the success of the initiative and what impact it will have the performance in the educational process.
